BERTHA QUICKLY HEADING WEST-NORTHWEST

Tropical Storm Bertha formed over the Atlantic Thursday night and is heading west-northwest.  It has winds of 45 miles per hour and is not forecast to become a hurricane. The storm is not forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico.

School make-up days for January ice storm

The Santa Rosa County School Board is meeting right now to decide what to do about make up days because of the ice storm.

Local schools were closed for three days in January because of winter weather.
   
Both Okaloosa and Escambia Counties had enough hours built into their school calendar, so no make up days are needed.
   
But Santa Rosa County did not.
A decision will be made tonight.
