Former crime lab analyst arrested for for evidence tampering and theft

ESCAMBIA COUNTY  --  Tonight, a  former Pensacola crime lab chemist for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is facing charges.

Joseph Graves was arrested this evening.
He is charged with grand theft, tampering with evidence and illegal drug trafficking.
The agency is now reviewing nearly 26-hundred cases graves handled throughout the state dating back to 2006.
Fifty-three of those cases are in the First Judicial Circuit.
33 in Escambia County, 14 in Okaloosa County, four in Santa Rosa, two in Walton County.

The investigation began more than a week ago when the Escambia County Sheriff's Office discovered prescription pain pills were missing from its evidence room.
Yesterday, Graves resigned from the FDLE.
His initial court appearance is scheduled for 1:30, tomorrow afternoon.
