Bay Area Food Bank and Walmart team up for 'Hunger Bowl"
Bay Area Food Bank is teaming up with Walmart to bring a different type of bowl game this football season.
Now through February 2nd, Walmart will hold a food drive at 21 Florida panhandle stores.
All donations will benefit Bay Area Food Bank and the pantries and soup kitchens they support.
Donations are already coming in. You can see these boxes are already filled but there are plenty of empty ones in the back and we need you help in filling them.
Representatives from the Bay Area Food Bank say January is a tough time because people tend make more donations around the holidays. But the center says hunger is a year-round problem and they always have a need for donations. Currently, about one in six adults and one in four children in our area rely on the food bank. Along with the food drive, the Walmart in Milton will be holding a fundraising event Saturday January 18th from 11 am to 2 pm. Every donation will help make a difference in the lives of people struggling with hunger in the Florida panhandle.
Megan Larson - Bay Area Food Bank

Steven Williams- Store Manager, Walmart
"The ability to be able to respond is very rewarding. It makes you very proud of your associates and you community to be able to respond to them."
You can purchase individual non-perishable food items to donate or a $5 pre-packaged bag.
