Gulf Breeze business receives Patriot Award
GULF BREEZE -- They're serving our country, but usually , it's once a month
Finding a company that's willing to work around your hectic schedule can be difficult.
But one local business owner received the patriot award today for hiring and supporting reservist.
"Gulf Breeze Automotive has been open for less then a year and the owner has already received an award for his generosity."
Back in December Mechanic and Army Reservist Derek Moretz sent an email to the employer support of the guard and reserve nominating his boss Mason Bragg for the Patriot Award.
Derek has been in the reserve for a few years and has worked at Gulf Breeze Automotive for a year.
He's called upon at least once a month for the reserves and is gone up to two weeks sometimes.
He says Mason never bats a lash when he tells him he has to leave.
Derek Moretz "He's been there for me every time while I'm gone. He'll talk to me he'll ask how I'm doing make sure I don't need anything and he'll check on my family while I'm away. He's just there for me."
Thursday Mason was surprised and given his award...
Mason Bragg "To hear that one of my employees took the time out of his day to send an email to get this whole process started it's a very very big deal to me and I can't express how much pride there is in knowing you make that much of a difference."
Mason currently has 2- reservist working for him and says hiring these men and women is an honor.
"It's absolutely huge to employee these people because of what sacrifices they make for us. We're just over here fixing cars."
