US offers support and assistance to Russia for Olympic security

With the Winter Olympics just 15 days away, the concerns about security in Sochi are growing.

Today the White House  offered full support and assistance to the Russian government.

The offer comes as Russian officials are trying to track down a woman who may have made it through a ring of security surrounding Sochi, intending to carry out a terror attack.

Meanwhile Hungary's olympic committee says it and other nations have received email threatening their athletes.

One American athlete has told his family not to travel to Russia to see him compete because he's worried about their safety.

It's kind of bittersweet, we kind of wanted to go to support him but we understand that he has to concentrate on the race, so we said, okay, we'll stay home and watch it on TV.

Besides Russian and U.S. security officers deployed through the area, Olympic teams themselves are also hiring private security teams.
