CENTURY  --  The northern part of Escambia County is expected to get the brunt of this winter weather.
Police and state transportation are keeping a close eye on the roads.
Channel Three's Jenise Fernandez is in Century to kick off our team coverage.
We've got some sleet here and we are seeing a lot of ice on signs, cars, and trees.
If you take a look, this is Highway 29, right now there are a few cars on the road and we haven't seen any ice or closures.
The town of Century is closed.
A few businesses stayed open, like gas stations and cafes, but for the most part, people are choosing to stay indoors.
The main concern is of course ice on the roadways.
The Florida Department of Transportation has sand ready if needed for the roads.
For now, people are doing their best to stay warm.. although the weather is already presenting some challenges.

A resident here told us, her hot water shut down.
