Health Department urges people to get flu shot

Santa Rosa County - Santa Rosa County health department leaders say they're seeing a normal number of flu cases this year.
Flu symptoms can mimic the common cold, but a fever is a good indicator it's actually the virus.

The Health Department suggests people get vaccinated, if possible.
Especially small children, elderly, and expecting mothers.
The Heatlh Department also says that Medicaid is temporarily covering the cost of flu shots for pregnant women.
You have to be 21 and older to qualify.
For the shot to be covered, it must be administered at a county health department  or doctor's office.
Shots given at pharmacies are not covered.
"The 2009 H1N1 is the primary strain of the flu right now so it is the same strain that we had in 2009 it's just the predominant strain and we are having other strains of the flu right now," said Mary Beverley, Public health service manager.
