Escambia Co. school district has new fingerprinting system

The Escambia County School District has a new fingerprinting system.

It allows prospective employees to get through a background check faster. The past few weeks anyone looking to become an employee of the district was stopped at the fingerprinting process. That's because the district was changing systems and hired outside company called Morpho.

The idea was to make the process run smoother and also offer three new locations across the county and one in Pace. The system will now cut down on time for background checks. What used to take two to three days can now take a few hours.

School leaders and applicants will now also be able to track the process online.

"It allows our principals to be able to see people that they are processing and trying to get hired. In the past the way it worked you'd have to make phone calls and you had to get someone on the phone before you knew that person was cleared."
