Re-trial for Robert Floyd murder case

A Florida appeals court has thrown out the second degree murder conviction of a Jay man.

Robert Floyd was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the shooting death of a Brewton teen in 2010.
The 1st district court of appeals ruled the jury that convicted Floyd was given conflicting instructions about the self defense and "stand your ground law".

On February 27th, 2010, four people drove up to Floyd's home on Country Mill road for a party.
The group and Floyd got into an argument that ended with an 18-year-old dead.

The court has ordered a new trial, the new trial date has not been set.
