Positive impact of Social media -- jackets and blankets for the homeless

ESCAMBIA COUNTY   --  A van full of jackets and quilts is on its way to the Waterfront Rescue Mission in Pensacola -- thanks to the power of social media.
The cold weather clothing and supplies will be given out tonight after the shelter is filled.
Once the shelter is full -- workers will still be able to give out coats and blankets for people who come for help.
David Wiggins is a pastor at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Wiggins says he put a post on Facebook early yesterday afternoon asking folks to donate jackets.  By dark, he had a lobby full of supplies.
Wiggins says strangers met him at the church -- saying they saw the Facebook appeal.

With  stories we were hearing last night was, I didn't, I forgot I had this and so they pulled in, dropped it off.  Now tonight it's gonna be on somebody's back, keeping 'em warm, going to good use.

Wiggins and his crew also collected sleeping bags and supplies for the "Streets and Lanes" Ministry.
They're a group of local volunteers who take food and  supplies directly into homeless camps around Escambia County.
