Larry Speakes former White House Press Secretary passed away

Larry Speakes, who served as acting White House Press Secretary under President Ronald Reagan, died Friday morning.

Speakes died at his home in Cleveland, Mississippi following a long illness.
    Speakes was named to the position after Press Secretary James Brady was shot during an assassination attempt on President Reagan.
   
Speakes wrote about his experience in the 1987 book "Speaking out: The Reagan Presidency from inside the White House."
    Speakes also worked in the Nixon White House.
   
He served as Press Secretary for the special counsel to President Richard Nixon during the Watergate hearings, according to the biography.
    Larry Speakes was 74-years-old.
