HEALTH NEWS: Lung cancer screening
The US Preventive Service Task Force has issued its guideline on lung cancer screening.
The independent group of experts is recommending annual screenings for at-risk adults who are 55 to 80 years old.
They define "at-risk" as those who have smoked a pack or more of cigarettes a day for at least 30 years and currently smoke -- or have quit within the past 15 years.
The Imaging Technology involves low doses of radiation but at-risk patients are advised to ask their doctors about the screenings.
