Gulf Breeze teen accused of killing mother in court today

The Gulf Breeze teen accused of murdering his mother on Christmas Eve is scheduled to be in court today.

17-year-old William Brandon Aydelott is due in juvenile court in Santa Rosa County just after 1 p.m. Prosecutors will ask that Aydelott continue to be held without bail. They're also asking for Aydelott to be tried as an adult.

Investigators say Sharon Aydelott was stabbed several times and that she'd been beaten with a baseball bat. A family member called police to the house after discovering her body.

William Brandon Aydelott was arrested at a home nearby about three hours later.    Deputies say he confessed to the murder.

William was a baseball player for Gulf Breeze High School. Sharon, was an instructor at Holley-Navarre Middle School. Grief counselors are being made available at both schools for staff and students.
