Seaworld responds to backlash caused by documentary
ORLANDO -- Seaworld is responding against the backlash caused by the documentary "Blackfish."
The documentary follows the story of the notorious performing whale named "Tilikum", who-unlike any orca in the wild-has taken the lives of several people while in captivity.
The film also accuses Sea World of mistreating animals.
The company took out a full-page ad in eight major newspapers.
In the ad, Seaworld stated, "We do not capture killer whales in the wild" -- and "we do not separate killer whale moms and calves."
"I don't think this is the last we've heard of this. This documentary seems to have gained more momentum not less momentum."
The letter came after eight musical acts -- including Barenaked Ladies, Martina McBride, and Willie Nelson- cancelled upcoming performances at the Orlando theme park.
