Soldier, once cheerleader, being honored as hometown hero

An NFL cheerleader who went from the football field to the battlefield is being honored tonight.
25-year-old Lieutenant Rachel Washburn just returned from a second tour in Afghanistan.
In 2009, Washburn gave up her career as a cheerleader for the Philadelphia Eagles to become an officer in the US Army.
She  was attached to a special forces unit assigned to a remote and dangerous mountain area, even fighting in combat

"Those girls paid the ultimate sacrifice, every single one of us is so heartbroken by their loss but so grateful that these women lived."

"I know enough about the army to know what she was doing was not safe. You never want your kid to do it... "

The Philadelphia Eagles will honor her for her service naming her hometown hero before their game tonight.
