Burglary victim speaks out

Justin Pitts has lived in this neighborhood for 23 years.
Like most victims of a crime, he never thought something like this would happen to him.
But what surprises him the most, is that these burglars broke in in broad daylight.

It was about two weeks ago when Justin Pitts received a frantic phone call from his daughter, saying their home was broken into.
The burglars ransacked the master bedroom, walking away with loaded guns, jewelry, and a safe with thousands of dollars in cash.

"I'm one edge all the time... I hope it doesn't happen to anymore people."

Pitts has been uneasy since the burglary.
He's even upgraded his home security system.

"It's a game changer... all the neighbors are all joining together to watch over each other more."

Pitts doesn't know how the burglars got inside. There were no signs of forced entry.
But one of his neighbors, who chose to remain anonymous, says he saw three men wandering around Pitts's house.

"He's in the business for himself and I thought they were employees. I feel bad."

When he found out what happened to Pitts, he told deputies what he saw.
Like most neighbors he's keeping a watchful eye and not leaving anything to chance.

"Even when I'm home by myself... my alarm is set."

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office is working several leads.
In the meantime, deputies will be patrolling the neighborhoods that have been hit with burglaries.
Reporting in Santa Rosa County, Jenise Fernandez, Channel Three News.
