RECAP: Winston decision not to charge

Prosecutors in Florida say Heisman Trophy candidate Jameis Winston will not be charged with sexual assault.
According to the police report, the accuser says she was raped by Winston in December 2012.
Winston says the sex was consensual.
The investigation was reopened in November *2013.
State Attorney Willie Meggs says Winston submitted a DNA sample on November 14th that turned up positive.
However there was also DNA from another unknown male.
Meggs said if they proceeded to trial, having an unknown DNA in a sexual assault case would be a problem.
Winston's attorney said his client was happy - and maintains he didn't do anything criminal.
We believed from day one that this was a consensual act
If we had evidence to prove sexual assault, we would have prosecuted the case
Law enforcement officials insisted football wasn't a factor in the decision to not press charges.

The criminal case is over.
But there is still the potential for the accuser to file a civil suit.
