Santa Rosa neighborhood wants help with speeders

GULF BREEZE   --  A Gulf Breeze neighborhood is fed up with speeders, so they are asking for more stop signs. In the Oriole Beach community, one pedestrian has already been killed.
Neighbors are now pushing for change before anyone else gets hurt.

Back in March, a man was hit by a car and killed while walking along Laurel drive in Gulf Breeze.  His daughter was also hit but survived.
The Florida Highway Patrol says speed was a factor when a 66 year old man was killed.
The Santa Rosa Shores homeowners association is pushing for more stop signs to get drivers to slow down.

"It's just a concern, it's a long straightway. Too many people driving too fast." said resident, Jim Tuck.

Neighbors say even after this tragedy,  many drivers still haven't slowed down. "I was running the other night. A car came flying around the corner and didn't even stop, I almost got hit." said Patrick Saden. He also says he was lucky, but his fear is, if nothing is done, it will be too late. The Santa Rosa Shores Homeowners association is asking the county to put stop signs up along Redwood Dr. at the intersections of Cypress and Santa Rosa Dr. Neighbors say it may not end the speeding, but it definitely will help.

The Santa Rosa County Commission will discuss it  and possibly vote on Thursday.
