US Army veteran held captive in North Korea

The White House is calling on North Korea to free an 85 year old US Army Veteran being held as a war criminal.
Merrill Newman was on a sightseeing trip to North Korea when he was detained October 26th.

He reappeared this weekend in a videotaped message released by North Korean State media apologizing for what he called 'hostile acts.'
"On this trip I can understand that in US and Western Countries there is misleading information and propaganda about DPRK."

The images of Newman prompted a new rebuke from the Obama Administration saying.
"Given Mr. Newman's advanced age and health conditions, we urge the DPRK to release Mr. Newman so he may return home and reunite with his family."
