FSU QB Sexual Battery Decision Tomorrow
Tallahassee - Florida Sate University quarterback Jameis Winston will find out Thursday if he will face sexual battery charges.
State Attorney Willie Meggs says he will hold a news conference tomorrow at 1:00pm central to announce the decision.
A fellow student accused Winston of rape. Winston's attorney denies the accusation saying sex between his client and the accuser was consensual.
Tallahassee police gathered DNA from Winston and it matched evidence gathered by investigators.
FSU's code of conduct says the star quarterback must be suspended from the team if charged with a felony. He would not be able to return to the team until the case is resolved.
The 19-year-old accusing Winston of rape called Florida State University police around 3:30 in the morning on December 7th, 2012 to report the crime. The case was then turned over to Tallahassee Police.
She did not identify the FSU quarterback as the alleged attacker until January 10th, 2013.
The young woman's family has criticized TPD for its investigation, and claim police told her that pursuing the rape allegation would subject her to public scorn.
TPD handed off the investigation to State Attorney Willie Meggs in November after numerous media inquiries and complaints from the woman's family.
