FOLLOW-UP: Boating accident near Fort Pickens

FORT PICKENS  --  A man is dead after a boating accident near Fort Pickens.
The man and his friend went fishing yesterday afternoon.
Their boat over turned and they were forced to spend the night in the water.
Investigators say two men were overtaken by a wave.
It was about this area where eventually investigators found the body of a man and the boat.
20 year old Brent Wilson and 24 year old Brett Keller went fishing in a 12 foot John boat around four Thursday afternoon.
They launched the boat from the Navy Point ramp.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission says a large wave flipped the boat a little after sunset.
Both men were able to put on  life-vests and held onto the boat for several hours.
Lt. Doug Berryman
"Around midnight the victim took his life vest off. Don't know why."
Brent Wilson was able to hold on to the boat and eventually drifted toward the shore near the fishing pier at Fort Pickens.
He told investigators once he got to shore, he couldn't find anyone to ask for help.

Lt. Doug Berryman   "He actually made it to the Tom Thumb on Fort Pickens Road and made a call."
FWC eventually found the boat and Brent Keller's body washed ashore to the east of the fishing pier on Fort Pickens.
"Two things we plan on being back at this time."
FWC is investigating this as a boating accident
