Blue Wahoos pay big to the Community Maritime park

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos delivered a big check to the community Maritime park associates Friday

Team owner Quint Studer and General Manager Bruce Baldwin handed off more than 490 thousand dollars.

The Wahoos have now paid almost 700 thousand dollars to the CMPA this year. That's the second highest stadium use fee in the Southern league.

One dollar of each ticket for a Wahoos game goes to a usage fee for the Community Maritime park.

This weekend the stadium is hosting the Pensacola Egg Fest, a barbecue festival fundraiser for chain reaction and it will generate dollars too.

"The key thing now is for the CMPA to get the rest of the property working well, beacuse we certainly don't want to raise our ticket surcharge that goes to the CMPA. Beacuse we want to keep our ticket prices low."

The goal is to have more events and tennants at Community Maritime park.

That could mean millions of dollars for the city of Pensacola in years to come.
