New bronze "deployment" sculpture at aviation museum

A new statue now stands on board Naval Air Station Pensacola.

The statue is titled "homecoming." It depicts a Naval aviator reunited with his family following a long deployment.

Homecoming was sculpted by National Naval Aviation Museum Director, Retired Navy Captain Bob Rasmussen. He says he got his inspiration from a picture of his son and his family during a homecoming celebration in 1999.

If you want to check it out for yourself it will be placed in the atrium outside the museum.
