Leadership Pensacola project gives sick children new place to play

ESCAMABIA COUNTY   --  Children recovering in a local hospital will soon be getting a new place to play.

It's all thanks to Leadership Pensacola, or "LEAP".
The Children's Hospital at Sacred Heart currently has three playrooms that they say need updating.

They're hoping to get new toys, storage areas, and making two of the current playrooms into one large one.

A child specialist at the hospital says new play rooms will help motivate and heal the children.

"Playrooms are a child's way of healing when they're in the hospital. It brings that normalization that they need, children play through their healing process and what they're learning and how they develop."

They'll be having a meeting in December to work out plans for the new play rooms -- and hope to start renovating in the spring.
