Thanksgiving turns into Brown Thursday
Americans around the world are gathering today to celebrate Thanksgiving.
After the stuffing, 33 million Americans are expected to hit the stores to get a head start on the bargains being offered what has now become know as "Brown Thursday."
Even before the parade was over and the turkey was out of the oven, it started.
"Yeah.. you get to wake up early to be here early."
Stores open already on Thanksgiving Day offering the kinds of bargains normally reserved for Black Friday one day early.
"I actually was against it., I really was and then I was looking for prices for sales for this weekend and I cannot pass up $30."
Macy's opening on this holiday - for the first time in its 155 year history and following in the footsteps of others, including Walmart.
Walmart claims its employees get perks, and are paid time and a half, for sacrificing part of their holiday to work. But other retailers including this Sears in Plymouth, Massachusetts will keep their doors closed today.
"We are not going to let corporate retailers rule over family values and take this away from us."
Family values being honored even by those, so far from their own loved ones. Over in Afghanistan - a Thanksgiving feast - enjoyed by soldiers.
"I'm absolutely grateful for my wife my kids back home."
While here at home families gather, to give thanks.
And of course another traditional gathering on this holiday right here at The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. There were concerns the balloons would have to be grounded this year because of the wind, but, you can see Mother Nature cooperated.
