YOUR THREE CENTS: Do you believe a third major political party is needed?

The public frustration over the frequent stalemates  in Washington has produced some of the lowest approval ratings for Congress in history.

And that frustration is now taking aim at the two-party system, not just the politicians themselves.

A new Gallup poll finds that 60-percent of Americans say the Democratic and Republican parties do such a poor job in representing the American people, that a third major party is needed.

That's the highest number that Gallup has measured in the ten years they've been asking that question.

Just 26-percent say the two parties do an adequate job.
14-percent  say they aren't sure.
And the findings are consistent across party lines.

Of the people who believe a third party is needed, 51 percent are Republicans, and 49 percent are Democrats.
