Air Force makes phrase "so help me God" optional in Honor Oath

Air Force Academy cadets are no longer required to say "So help me God" at the end of the honor oath.

The change was made in response to complaints from a group called "The Military Religious Freedom Foundation."

The group said that *requiring cadets to say "So help me God" was unconstitutional.
On Friday, the academy's superintendent announced that the  words would be made optional.

Authorities say they made the move to respect cadets' freedom of religion.
But not everyone agrees with the change.

"Our money still has it on there.  "In God we Trust".  Do you wanna get rid of that too, make it optional?"
The Air Force Honor Oath was created in 1984.
