The federal government came to a grinding to a halt this morning after lawmakers in Washington could not come up with a deal.

But failed to break the bitter budget standoff over President Obama's Health Care Law.
So at midnight - for the first time in nearly twenty years - government agencies were ordered to shut down due to lack of funds.
Both the House and Senate were back in session today - but no signs of progress.
President Obama is calling on the republicans to fund the government with no strings attached.
"I urge House republicans to reopen the government, restart the services Americans depend on and allow the public servants who have been sent home to return to work."
President Obama is scheduled to leave for Asia on Saturday.
But the White House is preparing for the possibility that he'll need to stay in DC.
