Destin airport approved for first air traffic control tower

SANTA ROSA COUNTY -- The Destin airport is getting four million dollars to build its first air traffic control tower.
Last night, Okaloosa County commissioners approved putting one-million dollars into the project.

State and Federal agencies will pay the rest.
Airport administrators say they need the tower because air space in the area is so crowded with military and civilian flights.

Design and construction is expected to take about two years.
