Man arrested in connection with 22-year-old case
NEW YORK -- New York police have arrested a man in connection with a 22-year-old cold case. Conrado Juarez was arrested today for killing 4-year-old Anjelica Castillo, also known as baby hope. The girl's badly decomposed body was found inside a cooler in the woods in 1991. For years she was only known as "baby hope" because she was never reported missing. An anonymous tip back in July led to the arrest of Juarez, who admitted to committing the crime.
"I think I can sum up my feelings in three words: I'm very proud. I'm proud of this department; I'm proud of the detectives; I'm very happy or elated; and certainly I'm relieved for the fact that when we visit this plot now out in in Saint Raymond's, we can now attach a name to this little girl."
The NYPD never stopped looking for leads in the case, handing out fliers every year on the anniversary of the discovery of the girl's body.
