New Florida Unemployment website still having problems
FLORIDA -- More than a week after a launch of a new online unemployment system in Florida - people are still experiencing issues with the system.
State officials paid $63 million for the new "Connect" site and even hired extra call center employees to help job seekers with the transition.
But it has not been a smooth debut.
Reports of unemployed workers unable to log in or receive payments have been widely documented.
The Department of Economic Opportunity is working around the clock to resolve the issues.
"We want to make sure everyone knows they will get every benefit they're entitled to. We're working tirelessly to make sure that happens for every single claimant out there. We understand this is difficult for a lot of them."
Issues with the Connect site come at the same time the federal government has been dealing with issues with the new Affordable Care Act's website for people enrolling for insurance.
