Car crashes into house, no driver found
ESCAMBIA COUNTY -- Florida Highway Patrol is trying to track down a driver that slammed their car into a house early this morning.
It happened on Vicksburg Drive in Escambia County just after 3:30 this morning.
There's a nasty curve here on Vicksburg Road. The curve is where a driver lost control, drove through this yard, bushes and ultimately crashing into that home.
A little before 3:45 Tuesday morning Micah Whalen and his family were awaken by a loud crunching sound. Whalen says he sat up in bed and looked to the corner of his bedroom.
He says that's when he saw the front bumper of a car lodged in his bedroom wall. He ran outside to see if the driver was ok, but when he got there, no one was inside the silver car.
Whalen then when to check on his other family members. No one was injured in the accident they were just a little shaken up.
Escambia County Fire Rescue crews responded first to the home. They began checking out the structural stability of the home. They quickly determined the home was safe and the family was allowed to go back into the home and wait for a trooper with Florida Highway Patrol to arrive.
Once at the home the trooper began his investigation and called in a tow truck to remove the car from the home.
Micah Whalen- lives at home
"It was feet from hitting our bed. It could have been a lot worse that what it was. We are really blessed that it happened the way that it did."
The family who lives here say they can't understand why someone would run from the accident and say they are worried about they drivers condition.
