National mortgage settlement for Crestview

CRESTVIEW   --  Money from the national mortgage settlement is on its way to Crestview.
Habitat for Humanity got a 240,000 dollar grant to tear down abandoned homes, and build new ones in their place.
   
They're focusing on a neighborhood near downtown Crestview, where there are lots of rundown properties.
   
Okaloosa Habitat has funding for four projects.
They're trying to stretch it to six.
The president says she wants to tear down "the worst of the worst".

Nitsi Bennett "This is the reason why I don't sleep at night cause there are people living like this, and I aim to put an end to that"

Demolition should begin within a month.
Applications for the new homes are available at the Crestview Chamber of Commerce.
