Missing children in Florida
FLORIDA -- 40,000 children are reported missing every year in Florida.
Most of them come home safely.
But unfortunately for many families, the unthinkable is all too real.
Dozens of families who have lost a child to abduction or murder traveled to the state capitol today for the 15th Annual "Missing Children's Day".
Families shared their stories and made a push for the public to help find their lost loved ones.
Some say they have a new revived hope thanks to what happened this summer in Ohio.
"I think positive-ness of three women who were held the longest eleven years, their successful recovery has just recreated hope for so many."
This year marks a bitter sweet anniversary of sorts.
It has been 30 years since Florida set up an agency to look for missing children.
