ECUA rate decrease

ESCAMBIA COUNTY   --  Good news for people who use Emerald Coast Utilities.
The company's authority board has voted to reduce a proposed rate increase for residential sanitation service.

The board chose to adopt a 1.2 % increase on its overall sanitation rate to offset the 3.5 % rate increase on the disposal fee at the Escambia County owned and operated Perdido Landfill.

That rate has increased by 44.5 % since 2008.
Both increases are set to take effect Tuesday, October 1st.
