House to vote on short-term government funding with provision to defund Obamacare

WASHINGTON    --  House republicans are threatening to shut down the government if the Affordable Care Act is not gutted.

Today the House will vote on a short-term government funding bill that will include a provision to defund Obamacare.
If it does pass the House, the bill will surely die in the senate, or be killed by the president with a veto.
And if the bill dies, the rest of the bill that would keep the government operating, would die with it.

If lawmakers can't work out a compromise, many functions of the federal government will be shut down indefinitely on October 1st.

"I cannot remember a time when one faction - one party - promises economic chaos if it can't get 100 percent of what it wants."

"It would be good political theatre to watch them self-destruct -- and that's what they're doing
If the two sides can't resolve their differences by October 1st, the government will run out of money and be forced to partially shut down.
Federal agencies have already been instructed to make plans.
