Victim’s cousin speaks out after Montclair shooting

ESCAMBIA COUNTY -- The Escambia County sheriff's office is investigating another shooting in Montclair...One of several in the neighborhood, this year.  One person is in custody. It happened on Chantilly way about two blocks from the Montclair elementary school. Over the last few years there have been numerous shootings in this very subdivision.

Deputies are not telling us much. We do know they're questioning a person of interest that have in custody. They've interviewed witnesses in this neighborhood and are trying to piece everything together we spoke with the victim's cousin, who does not want his name or face on camera.

He says they were walking around the neighborhood when they noticed a small gray car following them around he believes his cousin and the man in the car were arguing over a girl.

Wanting to avoid any sort of confrontation, he left, but then heard gun shots, only to find his cousin had been shot.

Ronnie Sims lives next door to the victim. He was sitting on his back porch when he heard the shots being fired.

"I heard pow pow.... anywhere from 5 to 7 shots, said Sims.

We don't know the condition of the victim. But witnesses say when medics arrived; he was awake and talking, very aware of what was going on.
