New Florida laws go into effect on Tuesday

Two laws impacting Floridians are going into effect next week.
First,  insurance rates for residents in the Federal Flood Insurance Program are going up.
The increase is due to federal legislation that passed in July of 2012.
According to the law, anyone who bought a home with subsidized insurance after the law's passage will pay the new full-risk rates starting October 1st.
Policy holders in high-risk flood zones can also see rates rise between 16 and 17 percent next year.

Also starting Tuesday you better think twice about texting and driving.
A new law goes into effect making it illegal to use your phone behind the wheel of a car.
