Oklaoosa County Property taxes going up next year
OKALOOSA COUNTY -- Property taxes in Okaloosa County will be going up next year.
Last night, commissioners approved a milage hike of 4.3 %.
For the average homeowner, with a taxable value of about 125,000 dollars, that's an increase of 17.48 a year.
The budget includes an extra 2.1 million dollars for the sheriff's office, to help pay for deputies in elementary schools.
It also includes the first employee pay raise in five years.
But that cost is being covered by wellness rebates from the county's insurance plan.
