Coast Guard teams with Pensacola FD for drills
The NAS Coast Guard station and the Pensacola Fire Department teamed up earlier today to prepare for disaster. The two groups gathered at three NAS Coast Guard station for an oil spill drill.
The west gate was closed temporarily during the drill this morning.
The road from the west gate to Sherman Cove Marina was also shut down for the preparations.
The scenario consisted of a barge carrying 2,800 gallons of oil and it collided with an object causing a fire. Officials say these drills help keep them prepared for any fires that may start. Sherman cover stayed open.
And visitors could get onto the base from the north entrance.
