City Council approves mayor's budget

PENSACOLA   --  The Pensacola City Council approved Mayor Ashton Hayward's 192 million dollar budget last night.

That includes cutting the number of firefighters at Pensacola International Airport.
They will be reduced from three per shift to two.
It basically eliminates the captain positions at the airport.
Those firefighters will be moved to other stations.

"The positions aren't being eliminated its just simply that the airport is not paying for these additional 3 positions."

"I believe every person that flies least safe airport on the Gulf Coast."
The budget goes into effect October 1st.
