Joseph Floyd: Guilty

CRESTVIEW   --  The former major for the Crestview police department was found guilty by a jury of his peers late last night.

Guilty as charged of unlawful conducting or participating in an enterprise or pattern of racketeering activity."

Joseph Floyd sat calmly as his fate was read.
He was placed in handcuffs by Okaloosa County sheriffs deputies and teared up as he was escorted from the room.
Floyd faced a long list of accusations
Making false official statements, battery, assault, official misconduct, bribery, extortion, tampering with witnesses and tampering with evidence.

I was pleased to support the people of this community they deserve better then what they got and we hope this will serve an example in the future to all law enforcement officers to strive for an ideal"

Floyd will remain in jail until his sentencing.
He faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.
And a minimum of 34 months.
The state is pushing for the maximum.
