Police continue search for man they say shot into crowd, wounding two
PENSACOLA -- Pensacola police are are looking for a man they say shot two people last night.
21 year-old Kamarccus Webster is wanted for aggravated assault with a weapon and battery.
The shooting happened near D and Strong Street around 7:30 pm.
Police say the men were shot after a fight involving Webster broke out following a basketball game.
They had been playing ball inside the gym at the Greater Little Rock Baptist Church.
One of the victims collapsed outside a home nearby after police say Webster began shooting into a crowd of about 20 people on Strong Street.
Neighbors say they heard around ten shots.
Randy Sorrell, Neighbor: "A lot of excitement coming down the street, a lot of young kids. Then I heard shots, then there was this wave of people just taking off. Cars sped down the street. I kept hearing shots, shots, shots, so we ducked of course, you duck and run when you hear stuff like that."
One of the men was sitting in his vehicle when he was shot.
The other was hit by a bullet while he was running away.
They were taken to the hospital.
Both victims were struck in the shoulders and their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
A motive for the shootings remains under investigation.
Pastor Lonnie Wesley the Third says the church will continue to host basketball games for people in the community in the hopes of keeping kids off the street.
Court records show Webster spent about five months behind bars for discharging a firearm in public two years ago.
