NEW INFORMATION: Construction begins on two Escambia County schools

ESCAMBIA COUNTY   --  Construction is underway for two local schools.   
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Ernest Ward Middle School in Walnut Hill at 9 am this morning.
The 16.5 million dollar project began in June with the demolition of the main building.
The school will use portables until the construction is finished.
Construction is expected to be completed by 2016.
DAK Suter Elementary School in Escambia County is one step closer to becoming a brand new, state-of-the-art campus.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held this afternoon.
The Escambia School District is building the new campus on land right next to the existing school.
The 20-million dollar project is being completely funded by sales tax money.
AK Suter is one of the oldest school buildings in the county and the new campus will have several technological upgrades.   

"As a parent, I am super excited. It's a sad yet exciting moment."
School officials expect the project to be completed by December of 2014.
