Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary Phase 3 to begin

NAVARRE BEACH   --  Less then a year ago the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary was launched.

30- concrete reefs were placed in the gulf on Navarre Beach to support a health eco-system.
Now the Santa Rosa County Commission and volunteers are in the the  planning stage of Phase 3 of the project.
"About 340 ft off this shore line where those buoys sit are 30 artificial reefs many say they are already drawing in all sorts of sea life."
Mike Sandler  "The marine life is really going way better then expected and the reef systems themselves you can't even see the original structure. They are completely covered with plant and animal life."

"It will be an area where we can deploy multiple reefs throughout that two square mile area."

Tyler Sharrett  "I think it would be great for the area because there is not much to look at if the reef's aren't there and it would bring a lot more snorkelers to the area."

"It would be nice to have a little more area where you could bring out larger equipment onto the beach."

'Construction on the additional reefs could start in the next six months."
