Ambulance fees to increase in Okaloosa

Starting next month, ambulance fees are going up in Okaloosa County.  Commissioners approved a hike to conver rising demand and cost of service.

Previously, ambulance rides cost between $400 and $1,000. Based on the level of care, and whether the patient was a county residnet. Starting August 1, all patients will be charged $800 for ambulance transportation, plus mileage.

Mileage fees will increase from $12 to $15 a mile. The increase will bring in $9,000 a year to help keep the program running.
