Lower crime rates mean less money for training officers

Crime has dropped and officers statewide are writing fewer traffic tickets.

That's good for Floridians.
But it also means less money available for law enforcement training over the next year.
A trust fund used to pay for officer training is built through court fees and a portion of traffic tickets.
Now the fund that once provided $110-dollars per officer is now down to $40-dollars.
Meaning fewer classes will be available at Regional Training Academies.
