Small victory for OJ Simpson

A small victory for OJ Simpson.
Nevada has granted the former NFL great *parole* on *some* of the charges stemming from his 2008 armed robbery and kidnapping conviction involving
Sports memorabilia, Simpson maintains was stolen from him.

OJ Simpson :  "I would give it all back to these guys,  they can have it ALL to get these last five years back."

After this hearing last week, the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners granted Simpson's request  noting his "Positive Institutional Record".

OJ Simpson, "I haven't had one incident since I've been here. I think I on a daily basis speak to more inmates and C.O.'s than anybody here."

But despite their decision, Simpson won't be leaving prison anytime soon.
He was convicted on multiple charges and still has to serve jail time for using a weapon during the robbery and also for "Assault with a deadly weapon."

Ronald Richard's, Defense Attorney //  "His key to the door is a lot closer because he now may be paroled on those remaining charges."

In a separate effort at freedom  "The Juice" is also hoping a Las Vegas judge will grant him a new trial.

Back in May Simpson took the stand and argued his 2008 trial attorney Yale Galanter botched his case.

Dan Abrams, ABC News Chief Legal Affairs Anchor // "This small parole win for OJ Simpson.   Has no impact on his appeal of these convictions."

If a Nevada judge does decide Simpson should be granted a new trial prosecutors will have to decide whether a retrial is worth it or if they want to set Simpson free with time served.
