BREAKING: Former Crestview Police Chief arrested

OKALOOSA COUNTY --The former chief of police in Crestview is now facing a charge of official misconduct. Brian Mitchell posted a $5,000 bond and was released from jail today. Mitchell was fired in April last year.  The state attorney says Mitchell falsified documents in the hiring of Joseph Floyd. Floyd had a history of arrests and disciplinary problems when Mitchell hired him in 2007. The two friends had worked together in another police department before coming to Crestview. Floyd headed the street crimes unit in Crestview until he was fired in March last year. He faces trial later this summer for racketeering.
Crestview Resident Erin Bartsch said, "I just hope that whatever comes about from this it'll restore Crestview the way it should be."
We tried to contact Mitchell at his listed number in Crestview. The number is no longer in service.
