President Obama reviews options for troops in Afghanistan
The Obama Administration expects to reach an agreement with Afghanistan that involves US troops staying in the country after the NATO mission ends next year. That's from special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, James Dobbins, who testified before the senate foreign relations committee today. He shot down reports that came out this week that the US might not leave any troops in Afghanistan after 2014.
"Unlike Iraq, to which comparisons are often made, the Afghans actually need us to stay. Most Afghans want us to stay, and we have promised to stay."
President Obama is reviewing options for how many American troops will stay in Afghanistan past 2014.
